In a compelling move for transparency and accountability, Peter Arbeeny and Janice Dean, alongside other advocates like Voices for Seniors, have formally reached out to President Joe Biden, seeking his intervention in the ongoing investigation into former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York nursing homes. This outreach is a continuation of a longstanding bipartisan effort to clarify whether Cuomo’s March 25, 2020 directive, which resulted in significant casualities among nursing home residents, was indeed in line with federal health guidelines provided by the CDC and CMS.
Despite nuermous inquiries from elected officials across the political spectrum, responses from the CDC and CMS remain pending, leaaving many questions unanswered. The letter to President Biden underscores the urgency and importance of addressing these concerns, highlighting the need for federal clarification to ensure such a tragedy is never repeated.
